Qualifications and Experience

I possess extensive qualifications:

-  BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Hartpury University, 2019
-  MRes Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Hartpury University, 2020
-  MSc Clinical Animal Behaviour, University of Lincoln, 2022

I am also a:

-  Pre-certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB Cert Ltd)
-  Candidate member of the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians (FABC)
-  Associate member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC)

I previously worked full time as an Animal Care Assistant for the Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home, and still cover shifts there on a casual basis. As part of this job I work with and handle dogs and cats with a wide range of breeds and temperaments, and am a regular foster carer for them as well.

I have also volunteered for a range of charities in the past, including Dog's Trust Dog School. I currently spend a few hours each week at the Feline Fine Foundation in Thornbury, helping to care for residents.

I frequently take part in CPD events, webinars and research to further my own skillset and knowledge, provided by a wide range of organisations such as BSAVA, APBC and PACT.

Methods and Techniques

As the animal behaviour industry is currently unregulated, it can be hard to distinguish skilled and knowledgeable practitioners from those who use inappropriate or outdated techniques.

I only use force-free, positive reinforcement-based methods that are supported by current scientific findings, and I will work at a pace that is appropriate for your animal's abilities and comfort level.

I will never use any technique or equipment designed to cause pain, fear or discomfort, as this is not only unethical, but ineffective in the long term, and risks physical and emotional injury, as well as damaging the bond between animal and human.
